She belongs to the most unique artists of all times Jane Birkin. On Saturday, December 12, the actress and singer opened the vernissage “Actrices” as homage to her daughter Kate Barry.

Kate Barry, daughter of the famous actress Jane Birkin, was an exceptional artist. Her sensual attention to character and true personality, created timeless pictures of famous artists. But, Kate Barry captured not only a special mood on her pictures. She showed very personal moments of powerful woman.
Thereby, superstars like Catherine Deneuve and Charlotte Gainsbourg opened their heart and soul for Barry’s very personal photography. Furthermore, Barry also portrayed Monica Bellucci, Emmanuelle Béart, Audrey Tautou, and Isabelle Huppert in a very special light.
Unfortunately, the artist died young in December 2013 as a result of a fall from her fourth floor apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. It was assumed to be a suicide. This year, the exceptional artist would have celebrated her 50th birthday.
KATE BARRY’S LEGACY

THE EXHIBITION “ACTRICES” BY KATE BARRY
The photo exhibition “Actrices” consists of 25 portraits of French actresses. In partnership with the institute and also the son of the artist (Roman de Kermadec) the exhibition was realized. Furthermore, photographer and journalist Aline Arlettaz curated the exhibition.
Finally, the gallery shows mainly black and white pictures. You can visit the exhibition in the Institut Français Berlin from December 4, to January 18, 2018.
