Actually, films tell fictional tragic stories. However, now and then it happens that a movie itself becomes such a sad story. This is what happened yesterday on the film set of “Rust” in New Mexico, where Alec Baldwin accidentally killed the arising camerawoman Halyna Hutchins.
The local police department is currently investigating why the prop gun fired live ammunition.
Halyna Hutchins
The director of photography was born in Ukraine and grew up on a Soviet military base in the Arctic Circle. She worked as an investigative journalist for British documentary film productions in Europe before graduating from Kyiv National University in international journalism.
She was behind the camera for Adam Egypt’s “Archenemy” with Joe Manganiello in the lead role. The arthouse superhero action film premiered at Beyond Fest 2020. It became nominated for various awards.
Halyna Hutchins also filmed Blindfire. The racially charged cop drama, written and directed by Mike Nell and starring Brian Geraghty and Sharon Leal, also enjoyed great success. The film won in the “Best Crime Drama” category at the Houston International Film Festival 2020.
Together with The Walking Dead director Pollyanna McIntosh, Halyna Hutchins produced Darlin’. The horror film was acclaimed at many film festivals and also nominated for several awards.
Halyna Hutchins posted the last time impressions of the film set in New Mexico on her Instagram profile two days ago. Now the talented camerawoman has died on the set of Alec Baldwin’s latest film Rust. She was only 42 years old.
ALEC BALDWIN UNDER SHOCK
The police assume an accident. However, the investigations are still ongoing. We feel with Halyna’s relatives. Of course, we also empathize with Alec Baldwin, for whom this accident, in which he also seriously injured director Joel Souza, is sure to be a huge shock.
