THE STYLE ICONS OF THE INAUGURATION 2021
Of course, a worthy occasion like the inauguration 2021 required careful selection of the right outfit. Everyone looked impeccable, from Joe and Jill Biden’s family to Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and others. Nevertheless, we would like to introduce the 5 Inauguration fashion highlights and style icons.
1st place – Amanda Gorman WHO Let the sun shine brightly
The appearance of the young poet at the inauguration 2021 can hardly be put into words. She complemented her poem “The Hill We Climb” with her sunshine yellow jacket and strong red headband. Both designed by Prada. With her ring, which represented a golden birdcage, she referred to Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”.
However, her beauty shines from within. It’s characterized by her courage, compassion, commitment, and cleverness. She is a very smart young woman, who shows that the pen is mightier than the sword, and thoughts are free.
I have never been prouder to see another young woman rise! Brava Brava, @TheAmandaGorman! Maya Angelou is cheering—and so am I. pic.twitter.com/I5HLE0qbPs

2nd Place – Michelle Obama – Powerful like a Marvel heroine.
Michelle is known to often support Black designers by wearing their designs to public events to give them exposure. At the inauguration 2021, she wore a plum outfit by Sergio Hudson. The gold oversized belt in particular is one of Sergio Hudson’s signature accessories. Hudson made his debut on New York Fashion Week in February 2020 and already designed looks for Michelle’s book tour, as well as designing outfits for stars such as Beyoncé and Rihanna. https://sergiohudson.com/
3rd Place – Kamala Harris – Deep Purple
Kamala Harris’s outfit was full of symbolism, as purple is a mixture of red and blue. These are the colors of the opposing parties, the Democrats, and the Republicans. Purple was therefore the color of the day, to symbolize that it’s time for peace, to shake hands, and to rebuild the country. Moreover, purple is a feminist color. The outfit was designed by Christopher John Rogers.
Besides, Kamala Harris is known to often wear a pearl necklace at public events. This time, the necklace was by Puerto Rican jewelry designer Wilfredo Rosado.
The pearls are a reference to the sorority she was a part of at Howard University in the ‘80s, Alpha Kappa Alpha, since the sorority calls its members “pearls”. Kamala’s habit of wearing a pearl necklace has become such a staple of her looks that many women around the country decided to wear pearl necklaces to show their support for Harris.
They did that through a Facebook group called “Wear Pearls on Jan 20th, 2021”, reaching over 450,000 members. Even actress Jamie Lee Curtis showed her support in the same way through Twitter.
4th Place – Amara and Leela Harris
Meena Harris, Kamala Harris’ niece, is an impressive personality and children’s book author herself. But that’s not all, as her daughters have fascinated followers on Twitter for a while. Carefree, cheerful, they symbolize where the United States could head if they find their course again.

5th Place of THE INAUGURATION 2021 – Jennifer Lopez
Of course, the singer is well-experienced wearing the right outfits onstage. This time, Jennifer wore an all-white Chanel ensemble. Lopez combined bell-bottoms with a ruffled top and a long coat. Furthermore, this outfit had a message too, since white was also the color of women’s suffrage and the anti-Trump movement.
Let's get loud... for our next president and vice president of the United States! 🕺

It is important to know, that mass-production clothes are just boring, unimportant pieces of fabric. But true fashion is made to set an individual statement.
Tell us, what were your highlights during the inauguration?
