Style icons like Lea Seydoux don’t only influence and shape fashion epochs. Besides, they also influence the film history. For example, what would the most famous secret agent of Her Majesty’s Secret Service’s be without his neat companions, the famous Bond Girls? Lea Seydoux is one of the more than 75 beauties who have been seen alongside James Bond in the past 58 years. Besides, with Maud Adams, she shares a special honor. Both appeared in a Bond film twice. As in Spectre, we see Lea Seydoux again in the role of Dr. Madeleine Swann in “No Time to Die”.
JAMES BOND’S 25TH ADVENTURE – NO TIME TO DIE
With “No Time To Die” the oldest franchise in film history opens the 25th chapter. And it has seldom been more exciting to wait for a new part in the series. As if the Secret Service had been involved, even before the actual start of the corona pandemic, the premiere in March 2020 was postponed to autumn.
Now that the second wave of the pandemic once again caused that cinemas across Europe had to close their doors, the premiere was postponed again. The new dates for the start of the 25th James Bond spectacle are April 2 (UK) and March 31 (Germany).
But what can we expect in “No Time To Die”? Is it worth the long wait? Howsoever, much isn’t known yet, except that this time Daniel Craig had a significant influence on the film. It included the choice of the multiple Emmy-award-winning author Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She wrote the script alongside Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Cary Fukunaga, and Scott Z. Burns.
THE STORY IN BRIEF
Five years have passed since James Bond, with help of the beautiful Dr. Madeleine Swann, was finally able to put his permanent rival Ernst Stavro Blofeld behind bars. Before that, he already had suffered hard years and heavy personal losses.
Hence, it was finally time to give up the license to kill and enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Why not in Jamaica? Here Bond can relax and enjoy the sun and sea, far away from the tricky world events.
No chance! James Bond realizes that he rejoiced too soon when suddenly his old CIA buddy Felix Leiter appears to ask him for help. Bond should know better. Because, what begins as a simple rescue mission for the kidnapped scientist Valdo Obruchev, soon turns out to be a fight to save the entire world.
A mysterious villain owns an extremely dangerous new technology. The villain’s schemes could cause the deaths of millions of people.
THE CAST OF NO TIME TO DIE
Daniel Craig is once again supported by the who’s who of international film. On the one hand, Oscar® winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) plays his opponent.
On the other hand, Oscar® nominees Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), and Golden Globe winners Ben Whishaw appear as Bond’s partners in crime. Besides, Lashana Lynch, Rory Kinnear, and Jeffrey Wright play alongside Daniel Craig. Of course, we shouldn’t forget Léa Seydoux.
Furthermore, after the terrific box office hit “Knives Out” by Rian Johnson last year (see movie tips), Craig is now playing with the enchanting Ana de Armas at his side for the second time.
BILLIE EILISH & NO TIME TO DIE
Not only the cast list is impressive. But the theme song is impressive too. No Time To Die goes under your skin. The title is performed by nobody less than the most successful artists of 2020, Billie Eilish, and her brother Finneas.
Also, hope never dies. Thus, we can only hope that we will soon have defeated the coronavirus or at least brought it under control.
Everyone longs for a normal life and evenings with friends at the movies. The cinema is an essential, valuable part of our culture. Films like “No Time to Die” are particularly important right now to forget the chaotic year 2020 and to keep the movie theaters alive.
