At first glance, the people who we’re going to talk about now seem just as savage and reckless as the murderous zombies from “Zombie – Dawn of the Dead” when it comes to expressing their opinion. The Russian rave band “Little Big” released a single in August 2020 with a music video that will make your mouth water! Their latest release will surely bring us all in the mood for the not so holy finale of the 2020-horrorshow. Voilà, Little Big setting statements as always!
A LITTLE BIG INTRODUCTION
Little Big is a punk-pop-rave collective from Saint Petersburg that came together in 2013. In their seven years of existence, they have amassed an impressive arsenal of hits and are supported by a devoted international fan base. The video for “Skibidi” cracked 400 million views in April, becoming the most-watched video on YouTube in Russia.
In July, their entry “UNO” for the Eurovision Song Contest became the most viewed video on Eurovision’s official YouTube channel with 137 million views. Every music video from Little Big is a spark in terms of TikTok Challenges and proves that they are one of the very big trendsetters from Russia.
“TACOS” FOR EVERYONE
In the new video to their single “Tacos” the punk band throws a food fight. Certainly a creative way to bring a pandemic-ridden world together through the power of music and food. The recently launched visual also features a reunion with Dmitriy Krasilov – the great dancer from the Eurovision viral hit “UNO”. Foodporn lovers, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for the most absurd and surrealistic world trip in the history of culinary art.
Lead singer Ilya Prusikin about the track:
“The track and music video are about something important, something that connects absolutely everyone in the world – food! If you thought, we were just writing meaningless tracks: think again! The underlying meaning of this song couldn’t be deeper.”
The track itself delivers an infectious hook over a furious beat that should build many listener’s appetite to feast on this intense journey over and over again. In “Tacos,” the band also explores new music styles. Ilich’s verses borrow from Afrobeat and dancehall, contrasting with the frantic and instrumentally larger-than-life chorus.
“SUCK MY DICK 2020”
But things don’t end with the “Tacos”-food fight. In addition, the rave band also released a second single this year in early November named “Suck My Dick 2020”. What can we say other than thank you, Little Big. A big thank you for expressing verbally and musically what we have all been thinking for the past 11 months. Of course, swearing may just be as useless as being annoyed all the time. But sometimes you just have to speak out loud, or in the listener’s case, to rave about what’s on your mind.
The music itself sounds joyful, nearly manic in fact, as it is completely opposed to the song’s hateful message. The electric synthesized beat is paired with lowkey bell sounds to create a Christmas vibe, which further deepens the play on contrasts used by the sarcastic group.
The video is an early Christmas present and brings together several famous artists and friends of “Little Big” like Tommy Cash, Finch Asozial, Carnage, Oliver Tree, and Ghostemane (of course remotely, as it is done in 2020). All of them act manically happy at a cheesy Christmas party. However, a more than gloomy and disturbing twist awaits them… One can only hope that Santa Claus will bring less catastrophic gifts to all of you! The video ends with the message:
“Never Forget 2020. Never Repeat 2020”. We can 100% support this message and feel musically inspired for a better 2021 by Little Big!
