He was a true influencer! A person who changed the world for the better, who ensured international understanding and freedom. Yesterday, August 30, 2022, he left forever this world that owes him so much, Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev.
A True Hero: Mikhail Gorbachev
Mikhail Gorbachev was a real-life superhero. Because the modest man from the North Caucasus ended the Cold War through his cosmopolitanism.
He found admirers all over the world for his policy of disarmament and detente. Even then, US President George Bush called him a friend. Gorbachev was an idol for many.

Especially, he was an idol and good friend to the Germans. Because they owe him the freedom that they can enjoy today. Of course, it was Mikhail Gorbachev who agreed to the fall of the Wall and, thus, the end of the GDR.
Hard to imagine a dictator stuck in the old ideologies like Putin or Gorbachev’s predecessors – all of them old white men, would have been in power at the time. The history and progress of Europe might well have taken a very different direction.
Gorbachev And The Russians
Unlike the rest of Europe, he was not very popular in Russia. That is absolutely incomprehensible. Actually, many Russians are very educated. However, they allow themselves to be blinded by the old propaganda techniques, which have hardly changed since Lenin’s time. Even today, many Russians adore the man-slayer Stalin. Or they accept the war in Ukraine. How can that be?
At the end of 1991, not only did Gorbachev’s career end but also his life which was full of privileges before. He fell into oblivion. While in Germany ex-Chancellors, who are friends with Putin, continue to collect around half a million euros a year for nothing, Mikhail Gorbachev was sidelined. In recent years he has led a more than modest life.
Most notably, since the death of his beloved wife Raisa in 1999, he has led a very reclusive life. It broke the heart of many people to see this good man suffer so much during his wife’s funeral. Everybody could see that it broke his heart to have to part with her.
We saw that Gorbachev was a good person with an incredibly big heart. And, he was Russian.
Although a person without scruples and conscience sends others, his own people, to their deaths or makes them suffer, it does not mean that this is the character of all Russians. It’s a trait of one unscrupulous elite, but not THE Russians.
R.I.P. Mikhail Gorbachev
So, Mikhail Gorbachev loved Russia to the end and remained faithful to it. He died yesterday in Moscow at the proud age of 91. The world bids farewell to a great man who always remained true to his ideals and himself. And Germans, in particular, mourn the loss of a beloved friend to whom they owe so much.
We hope he can finally hold his beloved Raisa in his arms again. Rest in peace, dear Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, and thank you so much for everything you have done for this world.
