ONE WORLD: TOGETHER AT HOME RAISES ALMOST 128 MILLION DOLLAR TO COMBAT COVID-19

LADY GAGA PUT TOGETHER SOME OF THE GREATEST ARTISTS

VALEUR has started the ONE WORLD DISCOVERY last year with the goal to bring everybody on earth closer together. Thus, we were excited to see the commitment of Lady Gaga, who had put together an incredible line-up under the motto One World: Together At Home. The event touched the hearts of many people.

128 MILLION DOLLAR FOR THE WHO

After Donald Trump has stopped the payments to the WHO, One World: Together At Home and Global Citizen raised nearly 128 million Dollars for the World Health Organization. The proceeds will be given to its Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The show was supported by NBC, ABC and CBS Network to reach a wide community. Besides, also MTV, YouTube, Spotify and countless other social media platforms took part to share the event with the entire world.

THE SHOW

The event ran 8 hours in total. Thereby, the first 6 hours were a “pre-show”. Additionally, it was followed by the main 2-hour show, hosted by the one and only Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert.

THE PARTICIPATING CELEBRITIES

Besides the great musicians, a lot of other celebrities took part. Among them were Beyoncé, Pierce Brosnan, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, Sabrina Dhowre and Idis Elba, Danai Gurira, Jack Black, Matthew Bomer, Natti Natascha, Sarah Jessica Parker, Oprah Winfrey, Don Cheadle, Lili Reinhart, Becky G, David and Victoria Beckham, Lupita Nyong’o, Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Lindsey Vonn, Erin Richards, Nomzamo Mbatha, Amy Poehler, Alica Keys and many others. A special moment was, when the cast of “Contagion” gave a speech: Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Marion Cotillard and Jennifer Ehle.

However, the main role played the everyday heroes like the staff in the hospitals and supermarkets, the emergency service and fire workers as well as the volunteer helpers. In addition, another main role also played the most vulnerable part of the society, the homeless and jobless.

MELINDA & BILL GATES’ STATEMENT

A highlight were the speech of Melinda and Bill Gates. Already years ago, the philanthropist has foreseen the epidemic. Moreover, he has warned of the crisis in detail. He is an expert, because, both run the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for 20 years. One important goal, among many others, is the development of the global health, which means access to medication for all people, regardless of the social status.

Thus, Melinda and Bill Gates declared the importance of both, the development of a trustful vaccine as well as its availability for everybody.
