THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK RETURNS
You don’t know Indiana Jones. Shame on you 😉. Arguably the most creative minds in film at the time, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas teamed up in 1981 and changed cinema forever with Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark.
They had done this before with films like Star Wars, Jaws, or Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But with Indy, the two created an icon that played its way into people’s hearts. Indy is still the template for countless adventure films today. Computer games and film adaptations, especially Tomb Raider aka Lara Croft, were also inspired by Indiana Jones. I wanted to study archeology, fascinated by the sometimes clumsy but always likable daredevil. The mix of adventure, suspense, romance, and humor inspires me today more than the first time.
THE STORY IN BRIEF
Henry Jones Jr. aka Indy is a part-time professor of ancient history. But actually, as a treasure hunter – not at all academic – it drives him always into daring adventures. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy gets the opportunity to discover one of human history’s greatest treasures, the Ark of the Covenant. The US intelligence service enlists Indy’s help to find the Ark.
But Indiana Jones has little time left. Because the Nazis are also looking for the chest. It’s said that it contains the stone tablets on which God carved the ten commandments before he gave them to Moses. Hitler is obsessed with the occult. So, he believes that the Ark of the Covenant will give him the power to rule over humanity.
Thus, a race begins in which not only time but also knowledge and friendship play a decisive role. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, you will already learn that the pen is mightier than the sword.
