Countless children suffer under poor life circumstances worldwide. Many of them haven’t enough to eat. Most of them live with a lack of education and access to medical treatment. Some of them even are physically or sexually abused. In any case, their lives are predetermined, and their chances are limited. Therefore, it’s good when popular brands use their influence and power to help those children in need. On September 27, one of these brands, which is known for premium technology, presented again its annual charity gala SamsungGives.
THE SAMSUNG CHARITY GALA
Meanwhile, the philanthropic Charity Event of Samsung takes place for 17 years. With a huge amount of more than $75 million dollars, the charitable initiative already helped more than 2,600 diverse institutions and organizations in the U.S. over the years.
As every year, the proceeds of SamsungGives went to well-selected organizations directly after the event. Among these organizations were for example: City of Hope, Global Wildlife Conservation, No Child Hungry, Together Rising and Victor Cruz Foundation to name just a few.
As usual, SAMSUNG invited a number of popular and influencing people to its charity gala SamsungGives. This time, the event took place in the Manhattan Center in New York. Among the guests was the beautiful Brazilian model Camila Alves. She was accompanied by her husband, Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey.
Furthermore, the American actress Kristen Bell, author and philanthropist Jessica Seinfeld and hockey star Mark Messier participated in SamsungGives.
Moreover, the retired American football quarterback Boomer Esiason attended the charity gala. In 1993, his two-year-old son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Afterwards, Esiason has founded an organization to fund research to find a cure for that disease.
Further on, Ryan Seacrest appeared in the Manhattan Center in New York. The TV & radio star is also well-known for his commitment. With his non-profit organization he inspires the todays youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives.
SAMSUNGGIVES ANNOUNCED THE CHAMPION OF HOPE
While those people are already true heroes within our everyday life, SamsungGives presented the CHAMPION OF HOPE 2018 Mariska Hargitay.
The American actress, daughter of Hollywood mega star Jayne Mansfield, played Olivia Benson in the NBC police drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Because of the experiences that Hargitay made in connection with that role, she founded the Joyful Heart Foundation. With her organization she provides support to women who have been sexually abused. Furthermore, the organization takes care of victims of domestic violence and child abuse.
While Mariska’s great commitment was honored at this event specifically, the work of all the other Charity initiatives is also very inspiring. Therefore, all foundations highly deserve to be supported by raising more and more awareness and money for what they do and affect.
Just one amazing example of how you can reach out and support people in need is Victor Cruz. During Samsung’s charity event, the founder of the ‘Victor Cruz Foundation’ showed a video of his exciting travel to Puerto Rico. With some Samsung representatives he went there to surprise the ‘Solar Libre Puerto Rico’ with a significant donation of $120,000.
‘Solar Libre Puerto Rico’ is an organization that funds and helps local people to use solar energy after the Hurricane Maria destroyed lots of buildings and houses in 2017.
Finally, to do something good costs a lot of power. Thus, after raising the awareness for serious and important topics, Samsung invited all guests to renew their energy by enjoying an amazing party. Pitbull, Fitz and the Tantrums, DJ Irie and some students of The Hamilton Education Program entertained the crowd with great live performances.
Therefore, the evening was a true success, for the attendees, for SamsungGives and – most of all – for all organizations involved.
