Every generation has a legend. And sometimes, one legend unites different generations. This December one of the greatest sagas will reach its climax with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER – NEW TRAILER IS OUT NOW
This week, Disney presented the new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer to shorten the waiting time until December.
What started 42 years ago with “A New Hope” will reach its end soon. Hopefully just for the moment, because the film universe is hardly to imagine without another Star Wars episode. I avoid the word “story” consciously, since the so called “Star Wars Stories” weren’t so successful and sophisticated like the impressive original.
THE MASTERMIND
Howsoever, certainly we can expect a true firework on the big screen in December. No less than J.J. Abrams wrote the script and directed the since-fiction spectacle, in a galaxy far, far away.
J.J. Abrams stands for visions, creativity, action, perfect cuts as well as innovative imageries and stories. Thus, fans worldwide were overwhelmed when they heard that Abrams will also direct Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Besides countless other movies, J.J. Abrams was also responsible for the script and direction of the glorious comeback “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Furthermore, he wrote the screenplay of the not quite as successful sequels “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”.
THE CAST & STORY OF STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER
Of course, there are just some rumors at the moment. Disney keeps details secretly. However, the new trailer shows an old beloved face: Lando Calrissian. As 40 years ago, Billy Dee Williams sits in the cockpit. And it would be more than peculiar if it wouldn’t be the Millennium Falcon.
Moreover, Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Issak), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) will lead us again through the most popular galaxy of all times. So much we can tell now.
PETER MAYHEW AKA CHEWBACCA
Besides all anticipation, one sad message reached us these days. Peter Mayhew died at the age of 74 years on April 30, 2019. He belongs to the original Star Wars crew. As Chewbacca he touched our hearts and made us laugh. His family wrote on Twitter (visit Peter’s Twitter profile):
“He put his heart and soul into the role of Chewbacca and it showed in every frame of the films from his knock kneed running, firing his bowcaster from the hip, his bright blue eyes, down to each subtle movement of his head and mouth. But, the Star Wars family meant so much more to him than a role in a film.”
We mourn his death, while we look forward to watching the end of the story of which he was an important part.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker starts on December 19, 2019.
