To boldly go where no man has gone before
Well, friends of cultivated science fiction. The time has come. Today is the day. The Star Trek Day 2022 has begun. Paramount invites us to very special hours, in which, of course, everything revolves around just one thing: Star Trek.

THE STAR TREK DAY 2022 HIGHLIGHTS
We can also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. But our hosts Tawny Newsome and Paul F. Tompkins have certainly prepared much more highlights for us. We are sure that even if you are not a Trekkie, you will have a lot of fun today and learn many new things.
The panel discussion with the cast of the Picard era will be a particular highlight. Indeed, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, and others have many incredible stories to tell.
A TRIBUTE TO NICHELLE NICHOLS
The look behind the scenes of Star Trek: Discovery, which Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber) grants us, will also be fascinating. And it gets particularly emotional when fans around the world pay tribute to Nichelle Nichols.
Star Trek has been, and always will be visionary. Therefore, perhaps you will also be inspired by how we can solve our current real problems. Because early on in Star Trek it became clear that there is no more money in the 23rd century. That’s why people can concentrate on their strengths and go to work with joy. Without pressure or fear. With a firm belief in contributing to the well-being of society.
Just dive into this live adventure with us and check out what awaits us on Star Trek Day 2022.

SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE
THE COMBAT AGAINST STAR WARS
Originally, the film was conceived as a TV movie called Star Trek: Phase II. It should follow the adventures of Commander Will Decker. The project was in development since the early seventies. So, numerous scripts were written, directors hired, sets were built, and costumes designed. However, the success of Star Wars made Paramount change their mind and upgrade Star Trek from Phase II to the special effects filled motion picture.
A VULCAN AS A KLINGON
Actually, actor Mark Lenard plays the Klingon Captain in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. However, he’s most famously known for portraying Spock’s father, Vulcan Ambassador Sarek, in both the Original Series, and subsequent film sequels.

THE KLINGON LANGUAGE
The Klingon & Vulcan words spoken in ST:TMP were invented by actor James Doohan. Of course, we know him as Commander Scottie from the films and television series. Later, the language was expanded. The linguist Marc Okrand devised the grammar and syntax rules for the Klingon. Furthermore, he wrote a Klingon dictionary. Howsoever, he based all his work on those few Klingon lines devised by Doohan for The Motion Picture!

FAMILY BUSINESS
James Doohan’s twin sons Chris and Montgomery can be spotted in the recreation room scene, when Kirk addresses the entire crew. Chris would later have a cameo in Star Trek (2009) as an engineer in one of the transport room scenes.
THE TRAILER
Orson Welles provided the narration for the film’s trailer. Director Robert Wise worked as the primary film editor on Welles’s first two films Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons.
HOME VS. theatre
ABC premiered the film at home as a three-hour special. To help make the runtime, scenes were added back into the film, making it longer than the original theatrical version.
