Founded in 2002, a brand made a name for itself in the Los Angeles denim scene by reinterpreting the classic five-pocket jeans. However, industry-standard sewing machines could not handle the desired designs. So this brand developed new, unique devices to produce their vision of jeans. With five-needle threads and two stitches per operation, the Super T was immediately recognized as a style that set it apart from all other denim brands in the world. A dream came true and embodied in the brand: TRUE RELIGION
The TRUE RELIGION styles soon attracted worldwide attention from trendsetters and celebrities, and the demand for denim grew rapidly.
From there on, the brand began to be bigger, better, and even more courageous than all the others.
While the TRUE RELIGION jeans were inspired by the 140-year history of denim, the in-house visible horseshoe emerged from the silhouette of the Buddha smile. TRUE RELIGION has always been one step ahead of fashion, even from behind.
Our styles live up to their names. Joey, Ricky, Halle, … However, it is the ´Fearless ´ style leaders who rock True Religion with the ´Be So Bold´ attitude and ignite the world with their bold statements of creative self-expression. We became famous because we were like no one before us. What began with a thread now leads to a future of innovative fashion, created by the brave for the brave.
TRUE RELIGION X JAFFA SABA
In cooperation with the London-based concept artist Jaffa Saba, the legendary US denim brand TRUE RELIGION brought out a tailor-made couture denim collection.
At the heart of this TRUE RELIGION x Jaffa collaboration is sustainability. The Limited Collection will receive products made from upcycled denim (consisting of defective goods or overhangs from previous seasons) to create unique, meaningful styles – all with the intent of changing the way denim is worn and used to revise and reconsider.
Jaffa, who is known for his unconventional style, skilfully integrates topics such as imperfection, sentimental value, and real authenticity into each product, thus enabling complete reuse of discarded denim. The collection includes jackets, jeans, bucket hats, shorts, samurai bomber hats, tote bags, and lighters for HIM and HER.
We were overwhelmed by Jaffa’s creativity and attention to detail, which we embody as a brand. Before this collaboration, he had already created several bespoke True Religion pieces from his closet. After we met, it was only a matter of time before we decided to work together. Jaffa’s understanding of the TR-DNA, the integration of dead stocks, and the reworking of our unsaleable, defective “Super Ts” into new, original one-offs impressed us. We are pleased to be able to present this collection together with our launch partner Selfridges. They have supported us for 14 years. ”Matt Claydon, International Sales Director (TRBJ)
