Today you are a superstar, tomorrow a nobody. The film business is merciless. But it is also full of visions, emotions, and an incredible dynamism that cannot be compared to anything else in the world. It’s not a job but a passion to be an actor. And one of the most well-known actors is now showing us, humbly, how to live with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nicolas Cage.

I ❤️ NICOLAS CAGE
Granted, not just since “Wild at Heart,” I’m a huge Nicolas Cage fan. I loved and still love his punky and lanky personality. And yet I was more than skeptical about whether I really wanted to see his latest film. After all, many of his more recent productions went direct to video, or they simply weren’t convincing.
So, I sat down in the cinema chair and waited for the things that may come. And what came blew me away from the first moment.

THE STORY OF THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT
Nicolas Cage picks up on exactly the title. Because he’s not just playing himself, he’s playing with the ups and downs in his career and personal life. And this play is hilarious.
But from the beginning. Nicky suffers from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He can’t get along with his life and his family, especially his pubescent daughter. In addition, he puts himself under pressure to finally be able to play one of those roles again after a long dry spell that made him an international film star.

Too bad that he only gets rejections. Except one. For a lot of money, he is invited to appear as a guest star at a private birthday party. Sure, Nicolas Cage doesn’t feel like it. He is considering giving up acting. But what about all the debt and his family?
So, he finally decides to accept the party offer without even knowing who the actual host is. It’s Javi Gutierrez, a very wealthy olive oil producer from Mallorca. In addition, Javi is an ardent Nicolas Cage fan who sometimes overdoes it with his affection. Unexpectedly, Nicky likes the somewhat naive and quite lovable Spaniard. What’s more, he becomes friends with him. Nicolas Cage is really blossoming until he learns that dear Javi is said to have a very dark side.
THE CAST OF THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT

NIIICKYYY FUCKING CAGE AKA NICOLAS CAGE HIMSELF
Nicolas Cage is about to give up. He is bitter and quarrels with the film business and even more with himself. Unexpectedly, a timeout comes as it suits him, to find his way back to himself and take the unbearable weight of massive talent off his shoulders. More about him in the review.
JAVI GUTIERREZ AKA PEDRO PASCAL
Javi is incredibly rich and has a comfortable life. It seems as if he is very successful in his business. However, he has other talents lying dormant.

Whether these are good or bad, Nicolas Cage must find out in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

We know the incredibly likable Chilean American actor Pedro Pascal primarily as The Mandalorian and thus also from The Book of Boba Fett.
In addition, against his cheerful nature, the South American played the nasty villain in Wonder Woman 1984.

GABRIELA AKA ALESSANDRA MASTRONARDI
Javi’s beautiful and vivacious assistant shows even Hollywood stars like Nicolas Cage what to do and what not to do. It gives the impression that she is protecting the rather naive boss. What might be behind it?
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is Alessandra Mastronardi’s first major Hollywood production. The beautiful Italian performed in over 40 cinema and TV productions.
Cinemas and streaming services should devote more time to the great Italian cinema. So, we could admire such wonderful talents as Alessandra Mastronardi more often. It’s also kind of funny. Because the Neapolitan has a no less attractive sister, whose real name is Gabriella.
ADDY CAGE AKA LILY MO SHEEN

Lily is disappointed in her dad. It’s always all about him and his career. She wants to be seen by him as the person she is. Instead, Nicolas Cage tries to shape them according to his ideal. Will the two find a way to each other?
Lily Mo Sheen’s role in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent isn’t that far from her real life. At least as far as the part of the daughter of a superstar is concerned. Because the pretty British woman is the daughter of two international superstars, Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen.

She starred in Underworld Evolution with her beautiful mother when she was just seven years old. In the same year, 2006, she also played in Klick. Besides, Lily Mo Sheen is best known for her role in Everybody’s Fine.
OLIVIA HENSON AKA SHARON HORGAN
Even though Nicolas Cage annoys her incredibly with his career obsession, she always tries to show him a way and stand by his side. She proves that she is actually the stronger of the two. This becomes particularly important when both must free their daughter from a sticky situation.
Tough, ironic, energetic, intelligent, and self-confident, that’s how the Irish actress Sharon Horgan already convinced us in Games Night. We also know her from the internationally acclaimed film This Way Up, Together, and many other productions. In The Unbearable Weight on Massive Talent, she once again plays a strong woman who knows how to take things into her own hands.
RICHARD FINK AKA NEIL PATRICK HARRIS
In a supporting role, we see the star we know so well from How I Met Your Mother. He plays Nicolas Cage’s agent in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Somehow, he has already given up the career of his protégé. Does he still stand by him?
THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT CONCLUSION
Wild at Heart, The Rock, Con Air, Face Off, Leaving Las Vegas, Kick-Ass; I grew up watching Nicolas Cage films and still love them to this day. In the past ten years, the Oscar winner and scion of the Coppola clan has not been so accurate in his choice of roles.

What’s more, some critics have already written him off or made fun of him. Wrongly so, because it simply takes the right role to fully exploit his massive talent.

In order to finally be able to play such a role again, Nicolas Cage simply produced The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent himself. Lo and behold, he has managed a real highlight.

Because, in a very special way, the film plays with excitement and humor from the first second. It develops into a real buddy movie that radiates such sympathy and warmth that is urgently needed in these times.

Moreover, all players, especially Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal, play at the highest level. You just have to love them both.

A PERFECT GENRE MIX
With The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nicolas Cage also combines a wide variety of genres into a real feel-good film par excellence. On the one hand, this is due to the already mentioned warmth of the film. On the other hand, Nicolas Cage follows the trend toward imperfection with great self-mockery.
After years in which so many on Instagram & Co. presented themselves as perfect and up to all challenges, it is simply good to experience a real person who doubts himself and what he is doing, who is fallible and needs help, who feels and suffers and thus really lives.

The film’s message, to return to one’s roots and achieve things together, is a bold sign towards social media, where ego still dominates all too often. Nicolas Cage is finally showing what he’s really capable of. He just plays great. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is an absolute film highlight this summer.

Even if the film finds its way to the big screen in the time of Top Gun and Jurassic World, we still recommend that you have the money for a ticket ready. Because here the best popcorn cinema with a great charm factor is offered. It makes everyone leave the cinema with a very big smile. We give 9 of 10 points.
