After a very special night, the V-GUIDES continue to the sunny island of BORNHOLM. Arrive in the port of GUDHJEM, they experience the SOL OVER GUDHJEM (Sun over Gudhjem), the annual cooking competition on the last Saturday in June (will be filmed beforehand, flashback). At this event, world-class chefs conjure up delicious haute cuisine in the port, which everyone can try for free.

In the village, the girls also meet a lot of interesting and creative locals with whom they have intensive discussions. Together they discover the pearls and jewelry by MAYB FOR YOU and the handmade jewelry by GOLDSMITH KNAPSTAD. Then, Thomas Danielsen and Helene Høm invite the guests to their Working Studio and Show Room for theater and art, UNDREVÆRKET.

The girls also admire decorative handmade products, like kitchen plates and boards at KOFOED Bornholm. Hereafter, they learn that the sawmill was founded in 1875. The V-GUIDES are amazed when they see the glass art in the GUDHJEM GLASRØGERI a.k.a. Explore GLASHYTTEN (Glass Cottage) and the pearls of museums, OLUF HØST MUSEET.

In the GUDHJEM MUSEUM, the explorers delve into the history of the station and the locomotive before admiring the SKULPTUREN IM SCHMETTERLINGSFELD. The pleasure lovers also enjoy a treat from GUDHJEM IS. From the team, they learn that the delicious ice cream has been served in the building, which dates back to 1884, for almost 55 years.

In the agricultural museum, MELSTEDGÅRD the VGUIDES meet the animals and people of the farm. So it comes that they take a horse-drawn carriage ride, explore the mill, and much more. When they stop at PARKGOLF BORNHOLM, the girls find out the meaning of SWING GOLF & SOCCER GOLF.

Southeast of the city, the group discovers the glass art of BALTIC SEA GLASS before hitting the water past the STOREBORG BEI SPELLINGE MOSE and the BORGEHOVED IN DER RØ PLANTAGE. Along the steep coast, the skipper with the appropriate name GEORGE ZEEMANN ships the V-GUIDES in his boat, the M/S THOR, to the HELLIGDOMSKLIPPERNE.

Also known as “Little Patagonia”, this landscape is one of the most important sights of the island. Perhaps George will also tell the girls the exciting story of what connects Bornholm and Chile – apart from the landscape – (DINOSAUR FIND). The V-GUIDES discover the 3000-year-old ROCK CARVINGS and the BORNHOLMER KUNSTMUSEUM, proving that many artists have been inspired by the island.

After that, the girls are inspired by Denmark’s highest waterfall, the DØNDALEN. A detour to the ROCKESTEN IN THE RUTSKER HEATH (nature area Rutsker Højlyng), the ROKKESTEN, takes the V-GUIDES back to the Ice Age. It was the time when this 20-ton stone found its last resting place on Bornholm.

The path continues to TEJN, where the girls discover JESSICA ANDERSEN’S small brewery PENYLLAN. Of course, the brewmaster, who originally comes from Australia, invites the girls to help her to brew Danish beer. A break is taken on the charming beach of SANDVIG and the STRANDHOTELLET SANDVIG.

After an excellent refreshment, the V-GUIDES continue to the HAMMEREN LIGHTHOUSE. Afterward, the explorers visit SALOMON’S CHAPEL from the 13th century in the very north of the island.

Via HAMMERHAVN, the path leads the friends to the largest castle remains in Northern Europe, the HAMMERSHUS CASTLE RUINS. The girls learn that the CASTLE, which is 74 meters above sea level and was founded in the 12th century, has a special story to tell. Because it was here that Bornholm’s fate was decided in 1658 by a ruse by the Danes which can be compared a bit to the story of the Trojan horse. Because the Bornholmers lured the Swedish commander out of the mighty castle.

After his execution, a Bornholmer dressed in the Swede’s clothes and thus lured the rest of the family out of the fortress. Since then, the Danish flag has been waving defiantly on Bornholm – very close to the Swedish coast. On the SLOTSLYNGEN (castle heath) the girls take lots of photos of the grazing sheep and the castle as a backdrop.

The V-GUIDES discover the PISSEBÆKKEN. Why this waterfall is called that way remains controversial. It is clear that the girls also take very nice photos here. So, the way leads them to VANG.

Near the place, the explorers discover the Himalayan rock in the former GRANITE CRYSTAL. Not only here, but in the whole area, the sporty girls with the GOBORNHOLM team have a lot of fun with CLIMBING, BIKING, SURFING, and KAYAKING. (also at Balka Strand, Gudhjem and Svaneke). Of course, a photo of the OPALSEE should not be missing. The V-GUIDES strengthen themselves with good food and talks in the SOMMER RESTAURANT or DET GRISER restaurant in ALLINGE.

Via OLSKER and TEGLKÅS the girls reach the JONS KAPEL cave. Here, of course, they immediately explore what this special place is all about. A stop in the idyllic fishing village of HELLIGPEDER and in SVARTINGEDAL is a must. In this landscape characterized by steep cliffs and lush flora and fauna, the adventurers feel transported to the land of The Lord of the Rings, to Middle-earth. They also discover the JÆTTEBOLDEN, the huge stone that a giant is said to have thrown here.

Along the man-made KULTIPPEN, it goes to the port city of HASLE. Here, the group discovers the HASLE RØGERI, where fish is still smoked according to the old tradition. They also learn that the Baltic Sea is overfished and the fish smoked here comes from the North Sea. The HASLE HAVNEBAD is not just for bathing. Thus, the girls meet new friends again. Together they enjoy the sun and the water until sunset. Then they feast in the LE PORT RESTAURANT before it’s off to the hotel.
