The last week of discovering Denmark starts with morning sports at the beautiful VALLØ STRAND in KØGE. Afterward, the explorers arrive at ISHØJ’s VALLENSBÆK STRAND. The ISHØJ BEACH is not far from Copenhagen. But there is still time before the girls discover Denmark’s capital. Now, in Ishøj, between lush forests, meadows, and calm waters, the V-GUIDES go hunting for the tall, quirky-looking wooden sculptures, THE FORGOTTEN GIANTS.

At the ARKEN MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, the girls explore wonderful art surrounded by equally wonderful nature. In the ISHØJ MARINA, they experience the beautiful maritime atmosphere, which they can enjoy in the cozy restaurant of the Sailing Club’s HUMMEREN (THE LOBSTER). Here the friends taste again traditional Danish food such as STJERNESKUD (stardust) and SMØRREBRØD.

Calories are then burned back at ISHØJ GOLF CENTER and on to NYVANG at OPLEVELSESCENTER NYVANG (Exploratorium Nyvang). Here, the V-GUIDES visit a Danish city from the middle of the 20th century. They touch, taste, smell, and play their way through DANISH HISTORY, while taking a bite of the FOOD CULTURE, padding the domestic animals, or taking a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

A picnic in the fine sand of GLUMSØ-SEES offers refreshments.

In SORØ the team walks in the footsteps of the authors SAXO, HOLBERG, OR INGEMANN when they visit the beautiful ABBEY where the important BISHOP ABSALON and KING VALDEMAR ATTERDAG lie buried, among others. Directly next door the girls find the SORØ AKADEMI at the shores of SORØ SØ. After a walk in the ancient ACADEMY GARDEN (1.300), they discover the SHOPPING STREET, which is right next to it. Of course, some money is spent here before they explore more than 300 years of art in the SORØ KUNSTMUSEUM. After a detour to TYSTRUP LAKE, the V-GUIDES visit the BUSMUSEUM and TANK MUSEUM EAST.

At KRAGERUP GODS in RUDS VEDBY, the V-GUIDES meet MRS. REGITZE DINESEN, the 9th generation of the Dinesen family at KRAGERUP. Mrs. Dinesen shows the girls the castle and tells the story that the family here was once visited by their relative, the baroness and author KAREN BLIXEN. At HOLSTEINBORG SLOT by Skælskør (near Gavnø Slot, i.e. southwest), the group visits the OLD ROOM OF H. C. ANDERSEN which still remains in an exact way as when the writer stayed there.

At BORREBY HERREBORG the V-GUIDES try to talk to some of the families about their history and that of the castles they inhabit. At GULDAGERGAARD PARK they can see the RAKU OVEN working and enjoying the atmosphere of the surrounding PARK.

A detour west leads to the small seaport SKÆLSKØR. Here, the girls hop over the small colorful cobblestones which pop up as small artistic oases in the cozy cobbled street ALGADE, that winds through the town. They look through the doors into the studios of the many CERAMISTS and ARTISTS. Moreover, they stroll through the city, and the SKAELSKOR HAVN. Maybe the girls also discover the town from the seaside on board the boat SKJELSKØR V.

Further west the girls find KORSØR, where, of course, the GREAT BELT BRIDGE is unmissable. Here, they find small cozy, and colorful FISHERMEN´S HOUSES and Denmark´s most beautiful inlet, KORSØR NOR. In the old ferry port HALSKOV FÆRGEHAVN, the friends experience a lot of action when trying the diving tower or the climbing wall. At the fortress KORSØR FÆSTNING, the group sees that the canons are still pointing towards Great Belt, an area with roots back to the Middle Ages that has given land to KORSØR SLOT, SWEDISH DEFENCES, and the MAGASIN BUILDING, which was built by KING CHRISTIAN IV. The girls also visit KORSØR BY OG OVERFARTSMUSEUM in the port area and LYSTSKOV (Forest & Beach).

In SLAGELSE, the V-GUIDES discover the number one shopping city in West Zealand. Here, the way leads to the CITY CENTRE, the PEDESTRIAN STREET, and VESTSJÆLLANDSCENTERET where the girls find a nice selection of shops and culture. In DOWNTOWN, they explore some of the many beautiful CHURCHES and learn about the history of the city. The girls are having a picnic in LYSTANLAEG PARK.

In TRELLEBORG, the V-GUIDES find the remains of the Norsemen, the TRELLEBORG VIKING FORTRESS. They visit the impressive ring fortress of KING HARALD BLUETOOTH where they can see the only VIKING SHIELD in Denmark. So, they also visit the reconstructed LONG HOUSE before they learn more about the mysterious time of the Norsemen in the TRELLEBORG – MUSEUM OF THE VIKING AGE and participate in the VIKING FESTIVAL* in mid-July, where more than a thousand Vikings set up camps around Trelleborg.
